Infinit
Feb 26, 2025

In November 2019, our company split people into four different teams to best serve clients from various industries. Our team, Industrial Transformation, is one of them.Because of the initials of our team name, we become people from "IT", even though none of us worked in actual IT roles.
To remedy this we decided to hold a T-shirt competition, where some team members would create a T-shirt they would love to wear starring the new team name.
One day, Sebi — a service designer from our team and a strong advocate of the Circular Economy, asked me if I would like to team up and create the identity for the team together. We wanted to create an identity that would remind us of the positive impact we should strive to make on the environment. And just like that, our design journey began with the vision to "create a better world".
Mood board — To explore different possible directions

We agreed on the concepts "infinIT" and "butterfly" as the starting points. For the infinIT concept, we kept IT in the name and also added infinite which implies sustainability. For the second concept, we drew inspiration from how a butterfly transforms from a caterpillar. We thought this synced with our mission to help the industrial clients to digitalize their services and grow. Moreover, the Circular Economic chart looks like a butterfly, and this brought even more meaning to this concept.
Explorations

Based on the mood board, I started exploring in two directions— one with a playful font and the other with butterfly graphics.
T-shirt explorations

Since we were participating in a T-shirt competition, we agreed on a style first and then I tried to play around with the selected concepts on the T-shirt.
Final

The design was pretty close to what we aimed for. However, the butterfly in the infinIT logo didn’t quite look like a butterfly. After some iterations, here is what we came up with. We were both happy about the outcome because it included both the name infinIT and also a butterfly. Look closer, and you’ll see that the butterfly is derived from the infinity symbol.
